10 Pictures To Inspire You To Go On a South African Safari

Every year my family goes on a big trip together and the destination is chosen by whoever’s name gets picked out of a hat. Well, my mom totally outdid us all and chose South Africa and Botswana! I have never been more blown away and truly touched by our world as I was in South Africa. As a huge animal lover, there were so many times when I felt incredibly overwhelmed and even moved to tears by how unimaginably beautiful our world really is. Here’s just a small peak into what the safari part of our trip looked like and what’s waiting for you, should you decide to book a flight.

Following a leopard for forty-five minutes, while it hunts for its dinner.

Getting stared down by one of the big five — in this case, a well-fed buffalo.

This sweet ride and an even sweeter sunset.

Learning about some very surprising friendships in the wild.

Quite possibly my favorite picture I’ve ever taken. Is this horse girl biased? Possibly, but I’m absolutely positive that this zebra is my spirit animal, after I’ve just downed an entire pizza and parked myself on the couch for the remainder of the night.

Sundowners! Imagine happy hour in the middle of a safari. Yep, it’s totally a thing and you’ll look forward to watching the sunset with a South African drink in hand every single evening.

Feeling like you’ve inserted yourself into a real life making of the Lion King.

Seeing up close and personal how lions really are just big cats who like to nap all day…until they’re ready for a snack.

Realizing how animals were truly born to live – wild. This includes seeing them hunt, sleep and also noticing all of their marks and scars from times when they almost didn’t survive. (Check out this leopard’s right ear)
