As I sit here writing on my seventeen hour flight from Los Angeles to Bangkok, after just downing a pizza, I’d say Foodie Meets World is a pretty fitting name. To say I love food and travel is hopefully clear by now, so I’ll tell you a little more about how I got started with this blog…
In 2013, I so nervously embarked on one of the greatest adventures of my entire life: studying abroad in Barcelona. I did not know one person going into my trip, but luckily I had six amazing roommates and was in a program with some of the coolest people I’ve ever met. Living in an apartment in the heart of Barcelona and traveling the world on weekends was an absolute dream. When I arrived back home, the possibility of exploring a new place was always on my mind. Even something as simple as trying a new restaurant in my city is exciting for me! And hey, if they have pizza and some good ranch dressing….I’m definitely not mad about it.
Food. It’s sometimes embarrassing how much excitement I get from food. I’m a slightly picky eater, but when I like something, I LOVE it. I could seriously eat pizza for every meal and I would not get sick of it (I can say this only because I actually did in college….oops). Yes, I get it, pizza is like soooo basic omg, but it’s a combination of my two favorite foods: cheese and bread. Growing up, I was a great baker and now I actually like cooking way more than baking. I learned to cook from my Mom and Nana. They’re incredible in the kitchen and have taught me so much. Whether it be whipping up a delicious meal with whatever is in the fridge or a classic apple pie, they’ve shared their gift with me. I’d say I’m a very balanced eater. Somedays, I’ll have roasted veggies and other days I’ll have a big bowl of pasta. Most of my recipes are decently healthy (I’m only 5’2″, so I have to make up for the pizza somehow, and I can’t say I’m consistent in the gym). I try to find a balance between healthy meals and cheat meals and those in between. Some days I do better than others, but I mean there’s always yoga pants right? Que Mean Girls, “Sweatpants are all that fit me right now” Totally kidding! Kind of….
Another thing I love is photography. I am by no means a professional, but I love taking pictures! Yes, I am that person who takes pictures of pretty much everything I eat. I use a Fujifilm X-T20, Canon Rebel and occasionally a gopro. If you have any photography tips, please stop by my contact page and introduce yourself! I also take plenty of pictures on my trusty iPhone. Since living in Hermosa Beach, CA, you’ll see a plethora of beach and sunset pics on my Instagram. My 2018 photography goal: more video and make myself get on the other side of the camera more often!
Anyways, to sum it all up, I hope to inspire YOU to experiment with food and go on more adventures!
